Artist's Comments

I was out near dusk that foggy night and captured this photo. I love how the flowers are emphasized when compared to the lighter background.
Please enjoy :aww:

Thanks!
:-)
Would look lovely as a drawing also.

Very nice, Quiggy. I like the layering of greys.
You might try a "selective gaussian blur" to smooth out the noise in the foggy sky. My guess is about 6 and 6 for values.

I think so too - the problem is that I can't draw at all - so....if you can draw, have a go at it.
I also think it would be a cool pattern to have on something...it's just quite interesting to look at  :aww:

Think that's any better? I like your suggestion - thanks for always being willing to teach me!

You might try backing out the blur, making a run with the sharpening filter set fairly high, then redoing the blur. I find the two complement each other by giving sharper edges and smoother backgrounds.

The silhouetted flowers and branches have rather blurred edges. You can overcome a lot of that with a sharpening filter (Filter->Enhance->Sharpen in the GIMP, probably similar in PS). Typically I run the Selective Gaussian Blur after I've made any other contrast or color or sharpness twiddling.
Make any sense?
